Some of the days this we have celebrated so far this year.

"As a parent of two children who are thriving at Hill Top P.S. I couldn't be prouder to be part of such a great school community. The dedication of our teachers has given my kids the confidence and skills to excel. It goes beyond the classroom with so many extracurricular opportunities on offer like debating, Chess Club, Public speaking, Gala Days and Garden Club. Given these opportunities they are also discovering new interests, friendships and talents. Our school truly nurtures the whole child, encouraging every student to shine!"— a parent of Hill Top Public School

In the same way that it takes a village to raise a child, at Hill Top Public School we genuinely value the role community plays in our school. To that end, we have a vibrant and energetic group of volunteers who run our weekly Breakfast Club, canteen and reading volunteer program. With the support of Food Bank and Woolworths, we are able to provide healthy canteen approved meals for breakfast most mornings, supported by online ordered lunches at least 1 day a week. Not to be outdone Reading Volunteers Australia has been organsied in our school, enabling more interested and vetted volunteers to support class teaching reading programs with small groups of student every week.
For the past 5 years, a whole school focus on public speaking and debating has created a can do culture amongst our students where they are encouraged and supported to become more confident communicators. Practically, every student, every year, researches their own speech, delivers this to their class and then has the opportunity when selected to speak in our final and represent our school at higher levels of competition. Our middle school and senior debating teams, springboarding from this program have been successful over the past four years, representing the community of school and enabling students to engage in high performance group problem solving, delivered in person and online. Our public speaking and debating success are a hallmark of what makes this small school with a big hear tso special in the highlands.
Partnering and collaboration are key aspect of our school's success. In particular, our work with the Hill Top Community Association has seen our school based resilience reward days grow to become a Northern Villages calendar highlight. Our annual GLOW festival now regularly hosts thousands of guests each year and is a celebration of school and community resilience and support for one another. GLOW showcases our beautiful school grounds and our student centered culture as well as providing local businesses, and families the chance to connect, succeed and thrive. What more could you want!
